Amy Johns is a seasoned nonprofit executive and trusted philanthropic advisor with a deep commitment to educational equity, cultural vibrancy, and values-aligned giving. With nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, advancement strategy, and community impact, Amy helps clients transform generosity into lasting, measurable change.

Grounded in a belief that strong relationships and clear vision drive real change, Amy co-founded Amplify & Connect Advisors to guide individuals, families, and organizations in navigating the philanthropic landscape with purpose and clarity.

Experience & Leadership

Amy brings a unique blend of strategic insight and creative vision to her work. She has led advancement, fundraising, and strategic planning efforts for some of Atlanta’s most respected institutions, including Horizons Atlanta, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA). As Director of Development at Horizons Atlanta, she directed a $4.2M annual advancement strategy, secured the organization’s first seven-figure grant, and launched Horizons Honors, its inaugural signature fundraising event. She also served as Interim Executive Director, guiding the organization through key moments of strategic planning and growth..

With a background in nonprofit leadership, grant writing, and relationship-centered fundraising, Amy has helped secure transformational funding, strengthened donor engagement, and built capacity for mission-driven teams. Whether guiding a giving strategy or advising a nonprofit on visibility, growth and sustainable business practices, Amy is known for her thoughtful approach and steady leadership.

A passionate connector and collaborator, Amy serves on the Sarah Smith Education Foundation Board of Directors and her past service includes the BOOST Grants Program Advisory Council, and the Georgia Statewide Afterschool Network’s Afterschool Community Champions. She thrives on building bridges between donors and causes, amplifying organizations driving meaningful change, and mentoring the next generation of nonprofit leaders. As a working mom and active volunteer, Amy is also committed to nurturing strong, inclusive communities in every space she serves.

Amy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Arts Administration from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She lives in the North Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta with her husband and two daughters, Elizabeth (8) and Caroline (4).
